Let’s start Yoga(Day — 0 )
(This is going to be my first article on Medium, i will try to make it informative as well as simple.)
If you are allergic, you might be familiar with these nasal sprays and medicines.
Wait i am not promoting these products, just want to say that if you are allergic you might have used such kind of products.
Throughout the world, the prevalence of allergic rhinitis has slightly escalated. Currently, approximately 10 to 30% of adults and 40% of children are affected.
In India, more than 30% of the total population was affected adversely due to allergic rhinitis.
So, how all this is related to yoga?
You might be thinking this post writer might be suffering from the same and must have got some relieve from practicing yoga, yes you are right. I got relief but didn’t get rid of medication.
Think this way, you went to bed, to sleep and observed that one of your nostrils is blocked and you facing difficulty breathing in, that is really frustrating, right?
And now think of it this way, you wake up in the morning and took a deep breath and observed that both nostrils are open and that is the feeling of joy.
How Yoga helps
I started doing yoga when i was doing high school diploma, and now i am into engineering junior year. Benefits are totally amazing. But i am not going to tell you. In Hindi there is popular advertisement quotation “pahle Istemal karein phir vishwas karein” (First try, and then believe).
We will be doing pranayama, in yoga there are 64 different kinds of pranayama. But will be doing only a few, but very beneficial.
A beginner can also do this yoga(pranayama).
Let’s start
“Surya Bhedi Pranayama”
In this picture a man is doing Surya Bhedi Pranayama.
How to do it ?
You can also do it, sitting on a chair, but i prefer to sit on a mat on floor. In above picture this man is sitting in Padmasana, or is often called as Lotus position, generally yogis used to sit in padmasana
follow these steps:
1.) Sit straight, be comfortable. Avoid padmasana is you are facing difficulty.
2.) Make Mrit sanjeevni mudra using your right hand(Just like yo emoji, but thumb on ring and middle fingers).
3.) Use your left hand’s thumb to cover your left nostril.
4.) Slowly-slowly start taking breath from your right nostril.
5.)When it seems lungs are filled with enough air(oxygen).[Don’t force to breath in much, it totally depends on individual’s capacity]
6.) After breathing in, pause for a while(3–8 seconds.)[Don’t Exhale]
7.) Exhale now!, from right nostril only, keep your left nostril closed.
8.) When no air left in lungs, again take a pause(this time a smaller one, 2–5 seconds).
9.) Repeat the process.(Go to step 4).
You can do it, 5–10 times, if you are a beginner.
And then you can increase the frequency. after doing it you can change this kriya a bit, by inhaling through right nostril and exhaling through left. This pranayama might differ from one you have seen previously or you see in near future.
You will observe benefits from day 0, you are going to become a yogi(Happy journey!!).
Have a great day ahead.
